Following the announcement of the Prime Minister, Central Bedfordshire’s rating is now Tier 4. The additional restrictions associated with this change will be:
• People are advised not to enter tier four areas and residents in this tier must not stay overnight away from home.
• People should work from home where possible. When this is not possible, people are still able to travel to work.
• Non-essential shops will be shut.
• Beauty services such as hairdressers and nail bars will also be shut.
• Indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and swimming pools will be shut.
• Indoor entertainment (e.g. cinemas and bowling alleys) will continue to be closed.
• In terms of contacts, one person can meet with one other person from a different household, but must do so outdoors and not in private gardens.
These restrictions will also apply across the Christmas period. To keep up to date with the latest information, please check the government website.
Business support grants update
We are awaiting guidance from the government on grants to businesses during Tier 4 restrictions and will update our website as soon as more information becomes available.
However, we can continue offer financial support under existing schemes to businesses, including wet-led pubs, that were required to close under Tier 2 restrictions as well as in Tiers 3 and 4. Regrettably such businesses will need to make a fresh application to us.
We are also still accepting applications for the discretionary grant scheme (also known as the Additional Restrictions Grant). They will remain open until the end of Wednesday 30 December. We expect to make payments to eligible businesses in the week beginning Monday 11 January.
We would strongly urge businesses to visit our website for details of what advice and support is available to businesses.
You can also sign-up for an email alert service that will let you know when changes or updates are made.
