Apply for Co-option onto the Council

Sandy Town Council is now seeking candidates to be considered for co-option on to the Council for a vacant seat in Fallowfield Ward.
Being a councillor is an unpaid, voluntary activity. Councillors make decisions on behalf of the community. They take into account and represent the views of all the people who live and work in their area not just their own. The time commitment varies depending on the interests and responsibilities of each councillor. Sandy Town Council and its committees generally meet on Monday evenings and attendance at these meetings is an important aspect of the role. Councillors must also be willing to abide by the Code of Conduct adopted by Sandy Town Council and are encouraged to participate in training and learning. The successful candidate with represent the Fallowfield Ward as well as the whole community of Sandy.

Lots of councillors say they enjoy being directly involved in their community and shaping the place where they live and work. Taking up a civic office is one way to make a real difference to your community. If you feel passionate about localism and are interested in your area maybe this is for you?
The deadline for applications from interested candidates is Monday 7th December 2020. Applications will be considered by the Full Council at a meeting on 14th December 2020.
Candidates must be*:
over 18 and be an elector
live or work in or near Sandy
a citizen of the UK or the Commonwealth
