5th November 2020 Lockdown - Sandy Town Council Update
Date Added: 05/11/2020
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement of a second national lockdown to take place over the four weeks from 5th November 2020, Sandy Town Council has had to review its current activities and services.
To comply with the new restrictions and to protect the health and well-being of the public, staff and councillors, the Council’s offices at 10 Cambridge Road will be closed to the public from Thursday 5th November until at least Wednesday 2nd December. The Council continues to offer advice and support to the community via phone and email; members of the public can contact us on 01767 681491 or at [email protected] Updates and useful contact details are being shared on our website, www.sandytowncouncil.gov.uk and Facebook page, @Sandytowncouncil.
In line with the proposed new regulations, the Council’s parks and children’s play areas will remain open at the current time, although users must continue to follow government regulations, which, from Thursday will mean you may only visit outdoor public places with the people you live with, your support bubble, or on your own with one person from another household. You must also maintain a 2m distance between yourself and anyone outside of your household or support bubble, wait or come back at another time if a park is busy, sanitise your hands before and after touching equipment or gates and when returning home, and not consume any food or drink in the children’s play areas. Unfortunately, the regulations also require the Council to temporarily close the new outdoor gym in Sunderland Road recreation ground; members of the public must not use the equipment until further notice.
The Council intends to keep the public toilets in the town centre car park and at Bedford Road recreation ground open, as currently permitted by the new restrictions. We would ask the public to follow advisory signage, maintain safe distancing from other people, and wash their hands thoroughly when using these facilities.
Meetings of the Town Council and its Committees recommenced via Zoom online conferencing from Monday 29th June. The use of the virtual meeting platform has been successful, and the Council has been able to return to its usual meeting schedule. Therefore, all of Sandy Town Council’s Full Council and Committee meetings will continue to be held online during the lockdown period and for the foreseeable future. The meeting schedule is available to view, along with agendas and minutes, on the Town Council’s website. Members of the public and press are welcome to attend the meetings and should contact the Town Clerk at [email protected] for details on how to join.
We ask that all residents stay safe and follow the Government’s regulations on social distancing, to help protect themselves, their loved ones and our community through this difficult time.
