National Adoption Week champions the voices less heard

Date Added: 20/10/2021

Adoption can be difficult for all those whose lives it touches. Through championing the stories less told, this year's National Adoption Week aims to educate and inform people about adoption from all aspects and perspectives.

A new powerful four-minute animated film shares the life stories and real voices of six people that have had their lives changed by adoption including birth mother Anna*, single mum and adopter Sarah*, social worker Paula, 11-year-old Roman who was adopted age five, 19-year-old Tiegan who was adopted age four, and Sue who supported her daughter through the adoption process.

If you are thinking about adoption or have been affected by adoption in other ways, we’re here to help you every step of the way.  Below are the different services available:

I would like to adopt
If you are considering adoption, we have information about the process on our website.  We also regularly hold events for you to hear about the process of adoption and ask our friendly team questions.  At our next event we have a great opportunity to meet an adopter and hear their experiences of adopting siblings.  You can book your place on our virtual information sessions by visiting our Eventbrite page.

I have adopted and would like support
If you have adopted and would like support or information, get in touch.  We have a team of professionals with a wealth of experience who can give you advice, support groups where you can meet other adopters, teams who can provide support around education and much more.

My child was adopted/a family member was adopted

If your child has been adopted or you are a family member of an adopted child and you would like the opportunity to talk about your feelings of how adoption has affected your life, we are here to support you.  Our birth family counselling is an independent and confidential service for birth relatives of children who have been or are about to be adopted.
