I enjoy representing Sandy on all matters, but Beeston, the A1, the bridge and general access are all of particular concerns. Environment and sport are very important issues to the wellbeing of all and need careful attention.
Chair of Community Services and Environment Committee.
Member of Development Scrutiny Committee
I have been a serving Councillor since 2005 and also had the honour of being chosen as the Town Mayor for 3 years. One half of my family has lived in the town for many generations and we have seen a lot of change in that time. Visiting grandparents during my childhood there were open fields at the end of Windsor Way. I believe that we need to see Sandy develop and grow, but in a way that is sustainable and will bring more employment and much needed facilities to the town. We are in a unique position being inbetween the A1 and railway that makes planning our future more complicated as decisions about those major routes are taken in London. However, I will do my utmost to ensure that the needs of our residents are not ignored during these crucial national transport discussions.

Co-opted 24 June 2019
Member of Policy, Finance & Resources Committee.
I have now lived in Sandy for five years and served on the Town Council for two. During this time, particularly in the last year of the pandemic, I have learnt much about the town, its strong community spirit and the benefits of its location in terms of communications and also the beautiful surrounding countryside.
I currently Chair the Shannon Court Surgery PPG, I am member of the ‘Sandy Centre Group’, working on the regeneration of the town center and in addition a member of the newly formed ‘Sandy Neighborhood Plan working group’. I am Chair of ’Youth Inspired’ , a Bedford based organisation providing education and social care provision for young adults with learning difficulties and mental health conditions.
Working as a member of the Town Council and Deputy Mayor, I am keen we involve the community in the future of our town. Ensuring any development is carried out in a sustainable manner, providing the required services and facilities for local residents across all age groups, whilst being sympathetic to, and protecting our unique local environment in the Greensand Country and all it offers to residents and visitors alike.

I have lived in Sandy all my life and am married to a local school teacher. I have helped with the local Girl Guides, ran the Sunday School for a while and am now a member of St. Swithun's P.C.C.
My two children attended schools within the town and I am presently working full-time as a learning support assistant at Sandy Secondary School.
I am well aware of the problems and issues facing the town and having lived here all my life, know many of the residents. I have seen the community grow and evolve and have been involved with many of its functions and activities. These include craft time at the library, the Christmas Tree festival and the walking group.
I hope I can use my experience and local knowledge to help plan for the future of Sandy and look forward to meeting everyone.
Co-opted on to the Council in March 2022.
Member of Community Services & Environment Committee.
I have lived in Sandy for sixteen years. Three years ago, when I was planning to move house, returning to Sandy from house viewings in other local villages, it reinforced that my heart belongs in Sandy and I now want to give back to the community what I can to develop and maintain those foundations, for the better of the town.
I am an avid walker and love the easy reach of the beautiful countryside that we are so lucky to be close to. More recently, I did a 53.5 mile charity walk, in the South Downs, for the East of England Air Ambulance.
I am keen to see local businesses be used and thrive.
I am keen to see that our town and local countryside be maintained and protected from over development, but equally recognising that this needs to be balanced with the growth required to meet local needs sympathetically.
I have a wealth of experience in the public health sector, and experience in the legal sector, which I very much hope will be of great benefit to the town and understanding the local resident and town needs.
