There's still time to get your free tickets for Cheering Volunteering

Grab yourself a free ticket and come and join in the fun!
That’s the message to anyone who hasn’t yet booked a free ticket to this year’s Cheering Volunteering event.
The awards and celebration evening takes place at the Grove Theatre, in Dunstable, on Tuesday, 7 June – and free tickets are going fast.
There are only a handful of tickets left for the stalls with tickets also going fast in the circle.
The evening will be hosted by Central Bedfordshire councillors Carole Hegley and Caroline Maudlin, to recognise the huge volunteering efforts displayed by so many of our residents.
The event is possible thanks to the generous sponsors: ProLogis, BIFFA, Jeakins Weir, Aragon Housing, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Voluntary and Community Action and Council for Voluntary Services.
If you still need any persuasion to book then there’s Tom Jones impersonator Billy Lee, who was such a hit at last year’s inaugural event that he’s back to compere this time.
Billy said: “It was such a pleasure to sing and be part of the event last year. I was overwhelmed with the response and chuffed to be asked once again to host the evening.
“I came away last year humbled by the amount of time that volunteers had given. The winners and runners-up were definitely an inspiration.
“This is a wonderful event and celebration, and I can't wait to take to the stage once again and be a part of the wonderful evening. So grab yourself a free ticket and come and join in the fun!”
The event is organised by Central Bedfordshire Council, working in partnership with the Volunteer Centres as part of Central Bedfordshire Together, to say thank you to those who give their time to help others.
This year there will again be seven awards presented:
• Young Volunteer of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Volunteer Group of the Year
• Outstanding Contribution
• Lifetime Achievement
• Fundraiser of the Year
• Panel’s Choice
The judging panel has drawn up a shortlist in the different categories from almost 100 entries. Both the winners and highly commended will be announced on the night.
