Sandy Town Council Board Table for sale
Date Added: 05/03/2015
Sandy Town Council is looking to sell its board table which is currently housed on its property. The table is an exceptionally fine Cuban mahogany and dates from 1850. It is 5 ft wide and can extend from 6 ft to 18ft 6in long with the use of the seven leaves.
The table was purchased at auction by the Council on 31st October 1947 from the estate of Mr Graves of Sandye Place Manor for £25. It is believed that the Graves family bought the table from new and it moved to Sandy with them in 1905. The table was restored in 1999 by John M Moore of Chawson who discovered that the table had originally been 5ft.6in wide but had been reduced to 5ft wide when it was moved from London in 1905.
The table can be viewed by appointment by contacting the office on 01767 681491.
