Sandy Good Neighbours Scheme
Date Added: 28/05/2014
At a pre-launch event for the Sandy Good Neighbours Scheme on Friday 16 May, it was revealed that 103 people from Sandy and Beeston have offered to give others in the community a helping hand.
Volunteers will help anyone in need in the town, but expect the biggest call on their services will be from senior citizens. They will undertake such tasks as giving occasional lifts to the shops or doctors, befriending people, dog walking, filling in forms, letter writing and collecting prescriptions and pensions. They will also help with simple household tasks such as changing light bulbs.
The scheme was set up with the help of Mike Fayers from the Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity. For further information please contact Mike on 01234 832619.
