Lights out commemoration

Lights Out is an invitation to everyone in the UK to turn off their lights on Monday 4th August 2014 from 10.00pm until 11.00pm, leaving on a single light or candle for this shared moment of reflection to mark the 100th Anniversary of the date and time that Great Britain entered the First World War
The Royal British Legion invites you to take part in this national moment of reflection and will be holding a candle-lit vigil to mark the Centenary throughout the Country. Please buy a special Centenary Candle and pay your respects to all those who sacrificed their lives during this conflict. Centenary Candle are available from your local Marks and Spencer's. All profits from the sale of the candles will go support serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.
Sandy Royal British Legion are planning a Commemorative Vigil at the War Memorial on Bedford Road between 10 pm and 11 pm on Monday 4th August. The street lights in the immediate vicinity will be turned off for the duration and a number of candles will be placed around the wall of the Memorial. This is intended to be a quiet time for reflection on the start of WW1, 100 years ago.
Members of the public wishing to attend for all or part of this time are more than welcome and may also bring their own candles.
