Elections for parent governor representatives for Overview and Scrutiny Committee
Date Added: 04/02/2015
It is time to elect three parent governor representatives on the Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and the council has sent letters to all parent governors of schools maintained by the local authority seeking nominations for the posts.
This committee scrutinises performance, considers children’s services policy and offers comments that inform the council's Executive in making decisions.
Candidates are required to self-nominate, and parent governors in any school phase (lower, middle or upper) or in a special school are eligible.
The closing date for nominations is 4pm on 27 February 2015, and in the event of there being more than three candidates an election will be held on 2 March 2015.
The successful candidates will hold a four-year term of office, from May 2015 until April 2019.
The Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee meets during the day roughly every eight weeks, usually at Priory House, in Chicksands.
If an election is necessary the successful candidates would be likely to attend their first meeting on 16 June 2015.
Although the parent governor representatives are voluntary positions, they will receive a meetings allowance of £75 for up to four hours or £150 for more than four hours, together with travel expenses.
