Christmas Lights Switch-On 2014
Date Added: 06/02/2014
February may seem an odd time to start thinking about Christmas but planning a major public event such as the annual switch-on requires long-term planning and the team that runs the event, composed of Town Councillors and residents, has already made a start on preparations for the 2014 event which will be held on Sunday November 30th Last December’s event received widespread acclaim and the team is determined to make this year’s event just as good and attract just as many people again.
Fundraising will begin as early as March 26th with a dinner at the Maharajah restaurant in Sandy town centre and other awareness-raising events will be held over the following months. Inevitably, large public events as well as the costs of the lights themselves are heavily dependent upon generous support from the business community and local residents, and the planning team would also like to see more local residents joining them in helping them to plan the event. The more representative the team, the more varied the ideas.
If you feel you would like to make to make a contribution in some way to the Christmas lights event please contact the Council Offices on 681491 for further details.
